Trekking camps in the Southern Black Forest
In 2020 the first three trekking camps in the southern Black Forest were established. The trekking camps are ideal for a hike on the Albsteig or Schluchtensteig. In 2022, camp Kohlerhau near Freiburg on the Schauinsland and camp Göschweiler on the Schluchtensteig near Löffingen have been added. This year the network will be expanded again as ForstBW opens camp Elzhof, Fischbach and Herrenwald in the area of Schonach.Our goal is to continuously expand the network of trekking camps so that long-distance hiking trails in the Black Forest can be hiked with a tent.
The trekking camps provide everything you need for a real adventure: They are all located away from villages and towns, can only be reached on foot and besides the tent sites, a fireplace and a small toilet house, there are no other amenities. Equipment, food and drinking water must be brought in a backpack.
It is possible to book our trekking camps from may to october. Every trekking camp is suitable for at most three tents. An overnight stay costs EUR 12 per tent (max. 3 persons) and per night.
